I want to be reincarnated as Dory, the fish.

fish smiley

Well, I want to be reincarnated as a fish. But being a fish like Dory would be even better!

Have you ever heard the saying: "Memory like a fish"?

A friend of mine told me once about a fish in a bowl. The fish would go around the bowl and see the castle and say "Oh, look! A castle!" then swim away and forget about the castle. Only to say "Oh look! A castle!" next time it goes past it again. And again. And again.

Before I go deeper into my ramblings, just know that I don't have a psychology degree and whatever I say can not be taken as gospel and has a warning attached to it.

Anyway, this latest rambling was brought on by a conversation in a group I belong to about mood and writing. Artist, whichever field they let their talents roam wild to, had been know to suffer from "moods" (I know it's much deeper than that but we'll just use that word instead). Strangely enough, they are most creative when these mood spells occur and they produce masterpieces.

That made me wonder if I was in a mood when I wrote my first book. Dreamweavers is far from a masterpiece but you get my drift. Now looking back, I don't think I was in a mood. What I was in, I would probably call "over-whelmed". Life was so full-on and I needed to find a way to divert my mind away from real life otherwise it might become too much.

However, that's not the point behind this rambling. My point is: Why is life too much? As another set of people say: Nobody's coming out of this alive. so, we should all just chill out and enjoy life as long as we can, right?

Now, you and I know that is easier said than done. Why? Because everyone is addicted to "what's next?" It's in our bones. Ingrained into our brains from the time we were babies. It's an addiction of a lifetime and it's the hardest thing to break.

What do I mean when I say "what's next"? It's simple.

Imagine a baby. Baby is just happy with milk. But the parents thinking the milk isn't enough will try and get the next best thing for baby. Out comes new improved formula. Excellent choice for growing baby.

baby lime sour reactions

Then baby needs solid food. Simple food like mashed potato or baby rice isn't enough. Out comes different flavoured baby food. excellent for blah blah blah.

But watch the baby. Baby will spit it out. parent will try again. And again. Until baby gets used to the new flavour and get the hang of it. Then another flavour gets introduced. I'm gonna move on but keep this little nugget in mind.

Toys! Baby needs toys to stimulate brain development. Out comes a colourful, musical toy that can probably turn into "The Terminator" if it wanted to. But baby was more interested in the box the toy was in. parent sighs and try again (and again) to introduce the toy to baby. Until baby pays attention to it and plays with it.

Baby will grow up doing just that. Eating and playing with the next best thing for them, according to the parents. Until they become an adult and do exactly what the parents did. Now don't be angry. I'm not saying the parents were wrong. I was that parent myself. I still am actually. Wanting the best for our children is what every parent wants and that's good.

My point, however, is that we have raised the bar for everything. Food, commodities, entertainment, everything! Simple things are just not enough most of the times. Because we had been raised that way. Our parents as well and their parents' parent before that.

Take me for example, I read a great book. I allow it to soak in and give me the feels. Then after a day or two, I want another book. Something greater than the one I just read.

"What's next?"

I eat something nice...what's next?
I go somewhere fun and exciting...what's next?

A friend recommended going back to nature. Go on a holiday with nature. Go off grid. Find yourself once again. That's good! I highly recommend it. It's good for the soul.

nature river mountain earth porn

But everyone knows eventually we all need to go back to the jungle we all live in. The world full of "what's next" because it's ingrained in us. It's part of our quest for survival.

I look at my kids. They're both autistic. Both happy with simple needs. I what do I do? I introduce the best things I can think of for them to help stimulate their mental growth. They now have everything technology can offer. They go on exciting places to stimulate their senses.

And now they turn to me and ask "what's next?"

Actually, that is good because that means we've managed to stimulate their senses and helped them be aware of their surroundings so when they grow up, they know how to live in this crazy world we live in.

But think about this: autism is becoming almost like a norm. more and more kids are being diagnosed with it. No known cause. Thousands of theories. But what if this is just nature's way of weeding out the constant need for human's addiction? Are they the next species? Simple needs. #theoryofevolution

Anyway, back to the topic, if I had a topic at all. no matter what I do, I would always look for and find the next "best" thing...or even "better" thing (let's be realistic here) because it's an addiction of mine.

Is it yours too?

Is it too late for me? I'm doomed like this until the day I die? What happens after that?

See?

So, if I get reincarnated, I want to be like Dory. And just keep swimming and being surprised to see a castle in the bowl with me.

Why you should read romance novels

batman v superman wonder woman dcedit gal gadot batman v superman dawn of justice

I love reading fantasy/paranormal/sci-fi books. All my friends know that. It all started when I picked up The Goblet of Fire by JK Rowling. Since then, contemporary stories held no grip on me anymore. They're just not exciting enough, not action-packed and definitely have no glitter glue! :)

Then you come across gems from out of nowhere and you find yourself defenceless and can't help but fall in love. Here's a few I've come across lately that I hold close to my heart.

1. Back of Beyond by Neeny Boucher

Dina Martin and Nicholas Riley are total opposites. She's the good girl with the perfect grades and he's the bad boy with a reputation. Growing up together with close family ties, they have been at war as long as they can remember. When the unthinkable happens, neither of them wants it. Set in a small town at the turn of the millennium, this story is about family and friendship, the love of music and how sometimes who you don't want, is exactly who you need.

The blurb doesn't say much but man, I was gripped!

2. Fever (Songbird #1) by Melissa Pearl

FEVER - Ella & Cole's story...

Singing in the shower takes on a whole new meaning in Melissa Pearl's first New Adult Contemporary Romance.

Ella Simmons does not want to move across the country. But she is, because her boyfriend has persuaded her to join him at UChicago to finish out her college education. Never able to tell him no, she hops on a plane and makes the trek from LA expecting to adjust to life like she's often forced to, but things are not that simple when she hears a luscious voice singing over her shower wall. His deep, sexy tenor makes her weak in the knees, spreading fire through her limbs and making her question everything about her life and relationship.

Can one voice really have that much of an impact?

Cole Reynolds is on his way out. In his final year at UChicago, the only thing he wants to do is finish school and get on with his life. But the sweet voice that interrupts his morning shower turns his world upside down. Compelled to find his shower songbird, he begins a search across campus. The only thing to distract him from this goal is his roommate's gorgeous girlfriend who's just arrived from LA - Ella Simmons.

Relationships are put to the ultimate test as future dreams are questioned and friendships are thrown on the line for love.

This one sent me to sleep with butterflies in my chest. Such a lovely feeling.

3. Unforgettable by Kelly Martin

**Unforgettable—by Kelly Martin**
Maggie Millard wants to forget the past. She wants to move on from her horrible break up with the guy she thought she'd be with forever and from being called 'Margaret the Target' by one very relentless bully way back in middle school.
Except she can't move on. Not really. Her ex, Jake, is still in her classes—flaunting his new romance with slutty Kalynn. Everywhere Maggie looks, he's there... and Kalynn's there... and... yuck.
Enter Harry Bond— not his real name. Harry saves her when she gets incredibly drunk at a party. Harry saves her when she is confronted by Jake in the library. Harry saves her in English class.
Maggie could grow to love Harry.
The bad part? She knows nothing about him except he has a secret of his own. And his secret is one she may not be able to forgive.

Trouble Enough: A Collection is made of 3 short stories. The other two stories were fun to read but Unforgettable was the one for me. However, for the life of me, I can not find the link for this one on Amazon but this one was special to me since it started my love for romance once more

I urge you to check these three books out and I assure you, they will leave you with that warm feeling you only get when you finish a good book about love.

LETTER TO MOM

Hi, mom.

You asked me how I was every time you see me on-line.
My reply is always the same. I tell you I'm fine and we are all doing great. Most of the times, that's true.

Not right now though.

Right now, I'm tired. My heart aches.
I'm weary of being strong and pretending that everything is alright.

When I was younger, the world was easy. Life was but a game I play. I felt free and sure of everything.
Now I realise life was like that because you shielded me from all the heartaches life could bring.

Now, I'm thousands of miles away from you and have a family of my own, I've discovered how sheltered I had been.
Life is hard.
At times, I want to give up.
To shout to the world that "I quit! I've had enough!" then pack my bags and just leave, no looking back.

But I can not do that.
Like you, I have others to think of now besides myself. No matter what life throws at me, I have to be strong for them
and tell them that life is good
...just like the way you've always told me before.

And I have to tell you the same.
Because I don't want you to cry.
I'll do the crying for the two of us.
Just know that everything is fine and we are all alright. I know it frustrates you and hurt you thinking I don't love you anymore since I never seem to have any new story to tell.
But I would rather you be upset with me thinking I don't care than to break your heart knowing that I hurt and you are so many thousand miles away and can't do a damn thing about it.

I'm tired.
I just want a hug.
For you to tell me, everything will be alright.

I know things will look better in the bright of day.
But right now, it isn't and I ache. And I'm all alone pretending to be strong.

Tomorrow, I promise I'll be strong again.
Just not right now.
I miss you so.

Have I shown you the trailers I made for Dreamweavers?

Yeah, yeah, I know...I should have shown these to you before.

...But I've only figured out how to share these videos with you today. So, without anymore preamble...

HERE THEY ARE!!!

WISHES

video

Have I told you about the awesome novella I wrote with 3 other authors from Blue Tulip Publishing?

No?

How remiss of me! Well, we can't have that! Please allow me to introduce Ambroise and Michele, my beautiful characters from my novella entitled "Wishes" which is part of the Christmas anthology called "Frost, A Rendezvous Collection".

Better yet, here is the blurb:

One lucky visitor...You
One unfortunate Jinn...Me
You get three wishes...

The rules:
1. You can't wish for more wishes.
2. You can't ask me to kill someone or cause bodily harm to anybody.
3. You can't ask for world peace or anything like that.
4. You can't ask me to make other people love or hate you.
5. You can't ask me to break all these rules.

But nobody told me what would happen if I broke these rules.
I wasn't supposed to fall in love with you. You weren't supposed to mat-ter...yet now, I can't think of a world without you in it.

Who can blame me for what I'm about to do?

And here are the web links...just in case you want to check it out as well as the other heart-wrenching novellas by Elise Faber, K.D. Wood & Kelly Martin!

Remember me?

Hello, netizens! Remember me?
I know I have been absent for so long since the release of my first book Dreamweavers.
There is absolutely no acceptable excuse for it...I know and I'm sorry.
Only thing I can say is: WRITER'S BLOCK.

Man, you don't know what that means until you actually get one.
Hope I don't run into many of them in my writing career because it isn't pretty.

So, what had been happening to me since the release of the little book?
Well, several of you know that little book hit Amazon's bestseller list on DAY 1!
And it stayed there for an amazing one week.

For that I owe ALL OF YOU a MASSIVE THANK YOU!
I couldn't have done that without YOU!

Book 2 Soul Eaters is in the process of being written.
So far I've made it to Chapter 5 then the BLOCK happened.

I took some time out while concentrating on promoting Dreamweavers out there.
Then I also noticed I had a little family beside me.
I'm a new author and I still haven't mastered the art of juggling family life, day job and dream job in my two little hands. Anybody out there who has tips on how to do it, I am all ears.

Anyway, during this dark and lonely time with my block,
a tiny light was shined on me and dangles the words
SUPER-SECRET-PROJECT.
And WHAM! Block gone!

So, yes, there you have it!
I have a SUPER-SECRET-PROJECT!
And I can't wait to share it with all of you!

Well...that is WHEN I get given the go ahead to share it with you
Because...you know...it's a SECRET! Shhh!!!

So, keep tuning in and you never know...
One day it might be the day I'm allowed to reveal my SUPER-SECRET-PROJECT
Gosh, I love saying those words :)

SIX (6) DAYS TO GO!!!

There's only six days to go now until publication date.

I can not describe how I'm feeling right now. I swing between getting excited, nervous, depressed to being nonchalant about it all. My author friend K.D. Wood assured me it's perfectly normal.

I can't wait for the book to be released but at the same time I wish it's all over so I can stop worrying about it :)

Anyway, what had been happening recently. Well, since the cover reveal:

* Book release blitz had started.

* Advanced Readers Copies had been given out in exchange for reader reviews in preparation for THE DAY.

* Promo for Dreamweavers started in full swing on Facebook, Google+ and Twitter. https://www.facebook.com/collierav

* Amazing reviews of the book started trickling in. Read about them here: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23370677-dreamweavers

* Thunderclap for Dreamweavers went up to maximize my reach on spreading the word about book release: https://www.thunderclap.it/projects/21094-shout-out-dreamweavers-release

* I'm hosting an on-line party on Facebook on January 31, 2015 which will last all day until early hours of February 1 to cover different time zones. https://www.facebook.com/events/1524972484454446/?ref_dashboard_filter=hosting

* I'm also doing author takeovers in various blog groups on Facebook over the next few weeks.

* Chapters 1 & 2 of Dreamweavers are also available to read for free here: http://www.wattpad.com/user/CCRavanera

A bit busy :)

Well, next time I write an entry here would be to tell you all how the book release went! Fingers crossed we'll be successful. This is my wishing anklet. My friend, Louise Francomb, who made it for me said that if it breaks my wish will come true. I wished Dreamweavers' success on it...it broke last week. Hope it's magic will help make my dream come true :)
